Account Executive Intern with CasaCuba at FIU

During Summer 2020 I had the opportunity to work alongside the team who is working to create what we will soon know as CasaCuba; a multidimensional Cuban cultural center and think tank that facilitates the discussion and study of Cuban affairs. My role as an Account Executive Intern consisted of helping support all media and communication efforts
at CasaCuba. I worked closely with CasaCuba team members in the design of announcements, invitations, and social media content. I also had the opportunity to gain industry experience working with the CasaCuba team to amplify CasaCuba's brand by collaborating with CasaCuba's Public Relations team at Roar Media.

My duties included:

  • Timely delivery of all projects assigned to the agency.

  • Coordination of meetings and presentations.

  • Supporting communication's strategies by creating content for social pages and identifying spaces with potential for user growth.

  • Creating and maintaining up-to-date reports tracking social engagement and growth using third party analytics (Google, etc).

  • Assisting in fundraising efforts which included the coordination of special events and meetings.

This graphic became the base template for all Contemporary events moving forward and is still used today, beyond the end of my internship. I was able to create a graphic that viewers could identify with every time they come across it.

Designer At Work

One of my favorite projects was having the opportunity to help in the development of their bi-fold which is given to potential donors. As a Cuban-American, it was amazing to be able to create a piece of work I could connect with.

When the pandemic hit, I wanted to help CasaCuba continue to create diverse posts that weren't just bland and static images. Therefore, I used my skillset to design and create different ways to promote their events.

Developing the CasaCuba brand was a huge role within my internship and through graphics like this, I was able to help them create a sense of familiarity with each design that their audience could recognize at first glance.

Partnerships and collaborations are a big part of CasaCuba's success and I was able to help design these announcements of the virtual events they we hosting or co-hosting.

Typography Design

This project was my very first task and I decided to put a lot of effort into it because of how greatly the pandemic affected graduates. Social media became the best way to celebrate and share their achievements.
